We now employ 7 Doctors, a Specialist Surgeon, Nurse Practitioner, 2 Registered Nurses, EEN and other Health Professionals.
Dr Ken Treichel was the first permanent Doctor starting in 2004 and Dr Richard James followed soon after in 2006.
The Centre was bought by Dr Ken Treichel and further developed in 2010. We now employ 8 Doctors – 2 Registered Nurses and 4 other Health professionals.
We are a bulk billing practice believing that highest quality medical care should be available without putting a financial strain on any patient.
The premises is one of the largest in Hervey Bay with 750 square metres under roof and includes 12 consulting rooms – 3 treatment rooms with procedural beds and a full cardiac resuscitation facility.
With the professional stimulation of our GP training position we aspire to maintain our widely regarded reputation for quality care.

GP Registrars Training
We are an accredited training practice with GMT. This means that Doctors within our practice meet specific requirements as set out by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and /or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine relating to the training and supervision of GP Registrars.
Murphy Street Medical Centre is a Non Smoking practice. This policy extends to all Doctors, staff, patients and visitors of the Practice and applies to all indoor and outdoor practice areas (including the car park or inside the fenced area)
Zero Tolerance Policy
Murphy Street Medical Centre has a zero tolerance policy on aggressive and abusive behaviour. Staff have the right to immediately terminate a phone call if they are a victim of such behaviour.
